STM announces first Asia Pacific members meeting -

STM, a global trade association for academic and professional publishers, has held regular member meetings in Europe and the US for many years. As part of the Association’s 50th Anniversary year, it is now expanding these events into Asia with the first being a new series of annual member conferences for the Asia Pacific region.

In 2018, China became the leading producer of scholarly papers. Other nations in the APAC region are also rapidly expanding.

STM’s first Asia Pacific members meeting ‘Asian Futures: Innovation in Research and Scholarly Publishing’ is scheduled for June 6, 2019. Topics include: The part being played by China, Japan and other leading countries in STM publishing in the region and the world; The role of APAC research funders and how they may interact with current developments in the rest of the world; and Specific initiatives of publishers, universities and finders in the region.
