Scholarly publishing technology provider, HighWire, has been issued a patent for the algorithm and design which underlies the HighWire Vizor Rejected Article Tracker.
Granted on April 9, 2019 by the United States Patent Office, the algorithm was developed by John Sack as lead inventor, working with a number of co-inventor colleagues, to identify articles which a publisher has rejected and to track the performance of these rejected articles in the publishing marketplace. The Rejected Article Tracker is one component of HighWire’s Impact Vizor suite of tools that allows publishers to quantitatively assess the performance of their publishing program and the editorial decisions which support the program. By identifying previously rejected articles and comparing the impact and performance of those rejected articles to articles which were accepted, the Rejected Article Tracker allows journal publishers to assess their publishing criteria and to arrive at quantitative insights that will guide future decisions.
