Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that the Bukkyo University library has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform. It will be used in conjunction with the Ex Libris Summon® discovery service, which the university implemented in 2011. Bukkyo University is replacing a locally developed integrated library system (ILS) with the Alma platform.
With the adoption of Alma services, Bukkyo University will be able to efficiently manage its growing collections of e-journals and e-books, digital as well as physical collections. The sophisticated features of this library management system could not be realised with a conventional home grown ILS.
It is expected that the Alma cloud platform will lead to a reduction in library system operations, including the maintenance and replacement of on-premise servers.
