American Chemical Society names Dr. Jonathan W. Steed as new editor-in-chief of Crystal Growth & Design -

The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) has named Dr. Jonathan W. Steed, professor of inorganic chemistry at Durham University, as the new editor-in-chief of Crystal Growth & Design. Dr. Steed is known for his work on crystalline molecular solids, X-ray and neutron crystallography, and supramolecular chemistry.

Dr. Steed is preceded by Dr. Robin Rogers, who assumed the role of inaugural editor-in-chief of Crystal Growth & Design in 2001 and established it as a journal that stimulates cross-fertilisation of knowledge among scientists and engineers working in the fields of crystal growth, crystal engineering and industrial application of crystalline materials.

Dr. Steed’s research has received significant international recognition over many years. Such accolades include the Royal Society of Chemistry Meldola Medal in 1998, the Bob Hay Lectureship in 2008, the Royal Society of Chemistry Corday-Morgan Prize in 2010 and a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award in 2018.

Crystal Growth & Design publishes theoretical and experimental studies of the physical, chemical and biological phenomena and processes related to the design, growth and application of crystalline materials. The journal encourages synergistic approaches originating from different disciplines and technologies, integrating the fields of crystal growth, crystal engineering, intermolecular interactions and industrial application.

Dr. Steed joins the journal after acting as joint editor-in-chief with Dr. P.A. Gale for Monographs in Supramolecular Chemistry and has 18 years’ editorial experience with the Royal Society of Chemistry.
