Loughborough University unveils new combined OA institutional and data repository powered by Figshare -

Loughborough University has announced the launch of their new combined open access institutional and data repository, Loughborough University Research Repository, powered by Figshare. All institutional research outputs - from papers and theses to datasets and media - will be hosted in one place, providing a single location for all research outputs. The new repository is available on a custom domain at repository.lboro.ac.uk.

With the Loughborough University Research Repository, researchers will be able to showcase their papers alongside their data, giving citable, persistent, branded DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) and handles to each individual item in the repository. The university has integrated their research information management system, Symplectic Elements, with their Figshare-powered research repository to allow for seamless depositing of publications from Elements to Figshare. Data will be deposited directly into the research repository and theses are deposited through a submission system directly into the research repository to be reviewed by members of the library team before publication.

Researchers can upload any file type to the repository and over 1,200 file types display directly in the browser for maximum engagement and impact. Usage metrics, including views, downloads, citations, and Altmetrics, are tracked on each individual item and items published in the Loughborough University Research Repository will be indexed in Google, Google Scholar, and Google Dataset Search.

The launch of the new repository also required a migration of over 35,000 records from Loughborough University’s previous institutional repository, including usage statistics. All previously-published content now resides in repository.lboro.ac.uk.
