Academic publisher Emerald Publishing has pledged to make ‘open’ accessible to all by covering the Article Processing Charge (APC) for a limited number of pieces of research in celebration of United Nations Day 2019.
The APC will be waived on the next 25 pieces of research which are published on Emerald Open Research and are linked to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The waiver enables researchers from any background the opportunity to publish their research on an open access platform to enable their research to be freely available to a global audience at no cost.
The announcement forms part of the publisher’s Open Access Week campaign, ‘Open to All’, which aims to give a voice to underrepresented groups in the open debate. For this campaign, the publisher has partnered with F1000 Research to share blogs and opinion on open access from various groups including The Early Career Researchers Advisory Board.
Emerald Open Research is a platform that enables researchers to rapidly publish a range of research outputs as well as open peer review controlled by the author and an open data policy. The platform offers six gateways, each publishing research aligned to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, including: Sustainable Food Systems, Healthy Lives, Responsible Management, Sustainable Cities, Education and Learning and Digital World.
