Hindawi has announced that Journal of Mathematics is the latest title to be accepted into the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), the multidisciplinary index of over 9,200 of the world’s most prestigious and impactful journals. Journal of Mathematics will receive its first Impact Factor in the 2020 Journal Citation Report released by Clarivate Analytics.
As a signatory of DORA, Hindawi agree that the Impact Factor should not be used as a surrogate measure of the quality of individual research articles, to assess an individual scientist’s contributions, or in hiring, promotion, or funding decisions. Hindawi also believe that journals shouldn't be judged by any single metric but by thorough assessment of scope, content and a journal's editorial processes, alongside other journal- and article-level metrics (such as usage and citations). Readership is also an important indicator of impact and so all journals publish article-level metrics to help better understand the impact articles have had.
All journal-level metrics for Journal of Mathematics are clearly displayed on its homepage – its current acceptance rate is 13 percent, the time from submission to final decision is 36 days and it has a CiteScore of 0.330. Last year Journal of Mathematics was accessed by more than 74,000 readers from 98 countries around the world, producing more than 76,000 article views.
The journal’s inclusion in the SCIE not only increases the visibility and reach of its publications among relevant research communities, but also consolidates our commitment to advancing Open Science in scholarly publishing.
