SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, has announced a three-year ‘Read and Publish’ agreement with the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Netherlands.
The new agreement is effective September 1, 2020. It incorporates read access to all SPIE journals and proceedings in the SPIE Digital Library which comprises more than 500,000 publications covering topical areas ranging from biomedical optics and neuroscience to physics and astronomy-related technology. In addition, the agreement includes unlimited, open-access publishing in SPIE journals with no article-processing fees for affiliated authors.
It is the Eindhoven University of Technology Library’s first local transformative ‘Read and Publish' deal. The move is seen as an important step in supporting researchers in the transition towards open-access publishing.
