In order to build a diverse ecosystem of open access publishing models that can support the diverse needs of the many different members of the research community, other models will be needed. But developing a new model is not an easy undertaking. Launching a new business model, figuring out how to make it work, and getting buy-in from the community can be a long and arduous process with a lot of heavy lifting.
