Proposals for 2021 CRKN Conference now open -

The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) Conference Planning Committee has announced a call for proposals for the 2021 CRKN Conference, which will be held virtually from October 13 to 21, 2021.

This year’s conference theme is ‘Shifting the Future,’ focusing on equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, decolonization and Indigenization, collaborative change, the post-pandemic world, accountability in library and heritage work, digital initiatives, and more.

Abstracts are invited on topics including, but not limited to: The future of open access and open science; Data-driven collections analysis; EDI initiatives; Decolonization and Indigenization of library and GLAM practices; Current or post-pandemic shifts in our work; Accountability standards and practices; Digitization and preservation strategies; Increasing discoverability and mobilization of heritage content for research; and Innovative projects and initiatives.

CRKN actively encourages proposals from individuals who identify as part of marginalized communities, including but not limited to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit individuals, LGBTQIA2+ individuals, disabled individuals, and people of colour. CRKN also actively encourages proposals from individuals associated with small or under-funded organizations, or organizations with specialized focuses.

Proposals should include a 250-word abstract for the presentation or panel and a 100-word speaker biography for each speaker. Proposals may be submitted using this form by, July 14, 2021 at 5 p.m. ET. All proposals will be considered, and final recommendations will be made by the Conference Planning Committee for approval by the CRKN Board of Directors.

The conference will also include sessions curated by CRKN, as well as CRKN business sessions and the annual Meeting of the Members.
