NISO Plus 2022: Early bird registration opens -

Registrations for the NISO Plus 2022 conference is officially open. The event, scheduled to be held from February 15-17, 2022, will yet again be held virtually.

As well as the early bird discount (good through January 7, 2022), discounted rates are also being offered for members, for groups of five plus, and for students, unemployed, retirees, and those from lower-income countries.

NISO Plus 2021 was a great success in so many ways, with around 850 attendees from all over the world providing overwhelmingly positive feedback. But there are always lessons to be learned so, as well as keeping the elements that were appreciated (the quality of the speakers! the interactivity! the discussions! the accessibility! the focus on outcomes!), the organizers are taking steps to address the concerns, most of which were systems-related. Therefore, for NISO Plus 2022 the number of platforms used will be reduced to simplify user experience.

Continuing on its commitment to make the conference accessible to all, next year’s conference will again take place in two blocks of time each day — in the Americas’ morning/Europe, Middle East & Africa afternoon and in the Americas’ evening/Asia Pacific morning to early afternoon. The organizers will be balancing the content equitably across the time zones, with a mix of plenaries alongside three parallel sessions throughout the whole day.

The Planning Committee is already hard at work, to make sure next year’s conference is the best yet. More details about topics, speakers, sessions, etc., will be shared in the coming weeks. By way of a sneak preview, here are a few of the key themes the committee has identified as being of interest - Information and ethics; Building a more diverse information technology workforce; The tension between open and owned; Multilingualism in scholarly communications; Digital preservation; Standards and taxonomies for indigenous knowledge; and more.

NISO Plus 2022 will be a mix of invited sessions and proposals, which will be reviewed by the Planning Committee.
