A Multi-Hazard Taxonomy for Buildings and Infrastructure -

A report proposes a multi-hazard risk taxonomy for buildings and physical infrastructure. Called “GED4ALL”, the taxonomy will help emergency planners to assess, plan, and respond to the full range of various disasters and emergencies.

"GED4ALL" can be applied globally. In the event of multi-national crises and disasters, it should help emergency preparedness, and response professionals coordinate quickly and efficiently across national boundaries. This will reduce the costs of a humanitarian response to an event with emergency planners across nations using the same jargon and working with similar protocols.

Standardizing multi-hazard risks effectively lowers the learning curve, enables efficiency in loss prevention, disaster mitigation, and recovery work, and reduces administrative costs. It will unlock new global cooperation on disaster mitigation, international risk assessment, and multi-national disaster recovery efforts.
