Wiley expands open access agreement in Japan from 4 to 18 participating institutions -

Wiley, a global leader in research and education, has announced the expansion of its open access partnership in Japan from four to eighteen institutions.

A new deal between Wiley and JUSTICE (Japan Alliance of University Library Consortia for E-Resources) enables 14 new universities to enter into an open access arrangement beginning January 1, 2023, building on the success of the initial agreement by four Japanese institutions in 2022. The new agreement allows participating researchers to publish in any of Wiley's almost 2,000 hybrid and gold open access journals, including those published by Hindawi, and grants reading access to the entire journal portfolio of Wiley.

The 18 participating Japanese universities include: Iwate University, Tohoku University, Saitama University, the University of Tokyo, Tokyo Institute of Technology, the University of Electro-Communications, the University of Yamanashi, Shinshu University, the Graduate University for Advanced Studies, University of Fukui, Mie University, Kyoto University, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Tokyo Metropolitan University, Keio University, Tokyo University of Science, Kanagawa University, and Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology.

Wiley’s momentum in open access agreements continues to grow. Most recently, Wiley partnered with b-on in Portugal, Tulane University Libraries in the United States, and HEAL-Link in Greece to accelerate the open access movement.
