Nature Portfolio to add three new journals in 2024 -

Nature Portfolio has announced the launch of three new journals in January 2024. The journals, Nature Cities, Nature Chemical Engineering, and Nature Reviews Electrical Engineering, will expand the group’s sustainable development goals (SDGs) and engineering portfolios, covering a range of topics from urbanization and chemistry to electrical engineering.

Nature Cities will explore the challenges and opportunities presented by cities and urbanization, featuring contributions from various disciplines, including the humanities, engineering, and sciences. The journal will consider cities and urbanization broadly, inviting experts from across the globe to contribute their ideas and opinions.

Nature Chemical Engineering will publish cutting-edge research in applied chemistry and physics, with a focus on sustainability and the broader industrial use of chemicals. The journal will complement Nature Portfolio’s existing applied sciences journals, connecting a broad scientific community of chemical engineers, chemists, physicists, environmentalists, and material scientists.

Nature Reviews Electrical Engineering will publish the highest quality and impact engineering research perspectives and analysis, providing specialists and other non-expert readers with an in-depth understanding of the sub-field, technology, or application. The journal aims to be an inclusive and interdisciplinary platform for scientific exchange between researchers, engineers, and industry.

The new journals will be overseen by a team of professional editors, who will ensure careful selection, commissioning, fair and rigorous peer-review, accurate editing, rapid publication, and broad dissemination of primary research and commissioned content. Nature Cities and Nature Chemical Engineering will be launching as transformative journals, with the goal of fully transitioning to open access.

All three journals are now open for submissions, and the launch is set to continue Springer Nature’s commitment to the SDGs and to connecting researchers who are tackling the world’s toughest challenges with the practitioners who can benefit from their insight and analysis.
