Portico and the KB, National Library of the Netherlands, have extended their collaboration to host an online replica of the Portico archive at the KB. This long-standing partnership began over a decade ago and has focused on implementing digital preservation principles and practices, researching digital preservation formats, and developing automated preservation workflows.
In 2018, the KB and Portico established an online replica of the Portico archive, and they have now agreed to extend this hosting arrangement. This ensures that Portico's library and publisher supporters worldwide have additional assurance that their content is being preserved for the long-term.
Jeffrey van der Hoeven, Head of Digital Preservation at the KB, expressed his satisfaction with the continuation of their collaboration with Portico. He said, "Portico and the KB share the same core values when it comes to keeping digital publications safe for future generations." He added that their partnership strengthens their preservation strategy for safeguarding scholarly information across continents and underscores their reliability as partners in preserving digital heritage.
Their partnership has enabled them to share infrastructure, knowledge, and experience to improve the preservation of and access to digital content. With this extended collaboration, they will continue their efforts to safeguard digital publications for future generations.
