EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has launched a new browser extension, EBSCOhost Passport, to streamline research and provide library users and researchers with efficient access to reliable resources. The browser extension aims to help users who begin their search for information on a traditional search engine to access and utilize their library’s resources more efficiently.
EBSCOhost Passport is designed to allow any web page where Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) are present to be scanned. Users can then authenticate with their institution to access additional full-text content, including periodicals and articles, through their library. For select websites, the EBSCOhost Passport will also provide access to supplemental scholarly information related to the user’s search, offered by EBSCO’s open web research platform, EBSCO Essentials™.
The new browser extension will enable modern researchers to search the research platform they are most familiar with while connecting them with their affiliated institutions.
EBSCOhost Passport is aimed at providing a more efficient solution for users who begin their search for information on the web, allowing them to find, use, and cite reliable resources while utilizing their library’s resources. The browser extension is expected to help users save time and improve their research experience.
