Taylor & Francis and ANS launch 'Nuclear Science and Technology Open Research' platform -

Taylor & Francis has expanded its partnership with the American Nuclear Society (ANS) to launch a new open research publishing platform, called Nuclear Science and Technology Open Research (NSTOR). Developed in collaboration with F1000, a subsidiary of Taylor & Francis, the platform is open for submissions starting today.

The platform follows F1000's open research publishing model, which allows researchers to share any sound research output at any stage of the research lifecycle. The platform also offers post-publication peer review to promote transparency and rigor in the review and revision process, ultimately improving the quality of peer review discourse.

According to ANS Executive Director/CEO Craig Piercy, the new platform allows ANS members to publish quality content freely available to the public. Piercy said that ANS is thrilled to be a leader in the physical sciences by embracing a fully open research publishing option to support and grow the nuclear science and technology community.

Once published, all content on NSTOR is available to researchers, teachers, journalists, and anyone who is interested, free of charge. Peer-reviewed research will be indexed in major databases such as Scopus.

The platform will also feature Gateways, which are dedicated spaces on the publishing hub for each professional division of ANS, allowing for the transfer of knowledge within divisions. Additionally, NSTOR will have Collections, which are compilations of related, topical research.

John Fabian, ANS Publications Director, said that he firmly believes that adopting open research publishing is integral to sustaining ANS publishing activities into the future. With the support of members, donor Sushil C. Jain, P.E., and F1000, ANS can make its publishing community more open, inclusive, and supportive for the next generation of engineers and scientists.

Overall, the launch of NSTOR is a significant step towards fostering an open and collaborative research culture, accelerating the dissemination of knowledge and supporting the growth of the nuclear science and technology community.
