PALCI (Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration and Innovation) and ACS Publications have joined forces to announce a new open access agreement that offers participating members comprehensive financial support for open access publication in all ACS journals. The agreement also grants complete access to ACS Publications' journal content until the end of 2025.
This groundbreaking agreement builds upon previous collaborations between individual PALCI members and ACS Publications. It represents one of the first initiatives to leverage the collective strengths of various institutions, enabling full open-access publishing and subscription access for participating members. By combining open-access publication support for authors with access to ACS' extensive range of journals, the agreement aims to foster innovation in scholarly collaboration and ensure broad access to scientific research.
Thanks to individual commitments from PALCI's high-publishing institutions, including Carnegie Mellon University, New York University, and the University of Pittsburgh, researchers from 51 participating member institutions now have the opportunity to publish their research under open access CC-BY licenses in any ACS journal, without any publishing fees. Furthermore, consortium members who previously had limited access to ACS content now have full access to the entire portfolio of ACS journal publications through the ACS "All Publications Package."
This unique collaboration represents a significant step forward in realizing ACS' core objectives of providing indispensable information and promoting diversity in the sciences by extending publishing support to a wide range of institutions. The partnership between PALCI and ACS Publications signifies a shared commitment to advancing open access and fostering a more inclusive research landscape.
