The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) has announced the appointment of Dr. Rajnish Mehrotra as the new Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (JASN) and Senior Editor-in-Chief for the ASN Journal Portfolio. Dr. Mehrotra's tenure will begin on January 1, 2024, and extend until December 31, 2029. Currently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of CJASN, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. The ASN Journal Portfolio comprises three monthly publications, namely JASN, CJASN, and the online-only open access journal, Kidney360.
Dr. Mehrotra currently holds the position of Professor of Medicine and Head of the Division of Nephrology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle. He is also the Belding H. Scribner Endowed Chair in Medicine and serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Northwest Kidney Centers in a volunteer capacity. With a primary focus on improving the care and well-being of patients undergoing maintenance dialysis for kidney failure, particularly peritoneal dialysis, his research interests encompass comparative effectiveness of dialysis therapies, patient and technique survival with peritoneal dialysis, decision support for dialysis therapy selection, mineral metabolism in chronic kidney disease, and racial and ethnic disparities in chronic kidney disease.
Dr. Mehrotra's extensive body of work has been featured in over 250 publications, including prestigious journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association, Diabetes Care, and Kidney International.
