LIBER appoints new executive director -

LIBER (Association of European Research Libraries) has announced the appointment of Martine Pronk as the new Executive Director. Martine, currently serving as the Interim Executive Director, will assume her new role on August 1st, 2023.

Martine Pronk brings with her a wealth of experience, having spent over 8 years at Utrecht University Library, where she held the position of head of Academic Services and was a key member of the senior management team. During her tenure, she held strategic responsibility for research and education support services, with a specific focus on Open Science.

Having been an active participant in the LIBER network for several years, Martine is intimately familiar with the organization's goals and values. She has been involved in various LIBER initiatives, including the Emerging Leaders Programme and the Leadership Programme Working Group. Through these engagements, Martine has come to regard LIBER as an invaluable network that fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing, strengthening European research libraries and promoting connections and understanding between countries, institutions, and individuals.

As the Executive Director, Martine will be responsible for coordinating and implementing LIBER's strategic actions, overseeing the management of the LIBER Office, and advocating for LIBER members on a European level.

Martine Pronk's extensive experience and her dedication to advancing Open Science and research libraries make her a valuable addition to the LIBER leadership team. Her appointment signifies LIBER's commitment to fostering collaboration, promoting open access to knowledge, and supporting European research libraries in their mission to serve the scholarly community.
