New open access toolkit released to empower scholarly publishers and researchers -

The Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA) and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) has announced the launch of a comprehensive Open Access Journals Toolkit. This release represents a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts of OASPA and DOAJ to enhance transparency, accessibility, and inclusivity in scholarly publishing. The Toolkit aims to address the evolving landscape of open access publishing and provide valuable resources for both established and emerging open access journals.

Developed through a meticulous design process that began in November 2022 and concluded in June 2023, the Open Access Journals Toolkit is a response to the growing need for an online repository that supports open access journals worldwide. With a strong emphasis on assisting under-resourced journals, the Toolkit aims to empower individuals involved in journal publishing by enabling informed decision-making and promoting best practices.

Key features of the Toolkit include a user-friendly and accessible website, adhering to W3C accessibility guidelines, ensuring that all users can easily access relevant information and resources regardless of their internet connectivity. The website offers a seamless navigation experience and a search functionality that facilitates quick access to desired content.

The Toolkit includes a curated collection of resources covering various aspects of open access publishing, such as editorial policies, licensing, metadata, and indexing. It also provides practical guidelines and templates to help publishers establish and maintain high-quality open access journals. Recognizing the diversity of connectivity options, the Toolkit is available for download, allowing users to access its contents offline.

Furthermore, the Open Access Journals Toolkit will be available in several languages, with the French version set to launch shortly, catering to the global community of scholarly publishers and researchers.

OASPA and DOAJ remain committed to facilitating the global research community's transition to open access. To access the Open Access Journals Toolkit or stay updated on its developments, visit oajournals-toolkit.org or follow OASPA and DOAJ on social media.
