The Company of Biologists renews and expands Read & Publish agreement with CSIC, offering enhanced open access opportunities -

The Company of Biologists has announced a significant renewal and expansion of its Read & Publish Open Access agreement with the prestigious Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), extending the partnership from 2024 to 2026. The renewed agreement not only continues the commitment to open access publishing but also introduces expanded opportunities for researchers associated with CSIC.

Starting in 2024, corresponding authors from over 100 CSIC research institutes will enjoy the privilege of publishing an unlimited number of accepted Open Access research articles in two fully Open Access journals – Disease Models & Mechanisms and Biology Open. This addition complements the offerings for CSIC researchers, who can also publish in hybrid journals such as Development, Journal of Cell Science, and Journal of Experimental Biology.

A noteworthy aspect of this renewed agreement is that corresponding authors affiliated with CSIC will now be exempt from article processing charges (APCs) when publishing in the specified fully Open Access journals. This enhancement aligns with the commitment to facilitating open access to scientific knowledge and supporting the academic community.

Furthermore, researchers at participating CSIC institutions will continue to benefit from unlimited access to The Company of Biologists' journals, including archives dating back to 1853. This extensive access aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of the historical evolution of scientific research in the field of biology.
