The Academic Publishing in Europe (APE) Conference, scheduled for January 9th and 10th at the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT) Berlin, will delve into discussions surrounding the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the digital publishing landscape. ScienceOpen, a proud member of the SDG Publishers Compact, is actively participating in this dialogue, highlighting the crucial role of academic and publishing communities in promoting sustainability and innovation aligned with the SDGs.
The SDGs, designed to foster economic growth and development globally, have garnered increasing attention from academic and publishing communities. ScienceOpen has been at the forefront of supporting publishers in aligning their projects with the SDGs, collaborating with multidisciplinary publishers such as Hogrefe, Jaypee, and EDP Sciences. These partnerships aim to showcase innovative research results contributing to the acceleration of SDGs, presented in collections tailored to specific goals or relevant topics.
The upcoming APE Conference will provide a platform to discuss and explore the transformative potential of scholarly publishers in addressing the challenges outlined by the SDGs.
The APE International Conferences, held annually since 2006, serve as a meeting point for stakeholders in scholarly communications and scientific publishing. The event emphasizes the role of specialized information in disseminating research results through publications from universities, colleges, research institutions, and scientific societies.
As part of the APE Conference program, Stephanie Dawson will moderate a panel discussion titled “Can scholarly publishers change the world?”, focusing on the role of SDGs within the publishing industry. The session aims to foster dialogue and exploration of innovative approaches that contribute to sustainable development goals.
ScienceOpen invites conference attendees to explore their projects and initiatives that actively promote the Sustainable Development Goals. The digital infrastructure provided by ScienceOpen allows research results to be contextualized in a discovery environment, facilitating global scholarly exchange and informed debates.
