In a significant stride towards fostering open access in the realm of biology research, The Company of Biologists has unveiled a Read & Publish Open Access agreement with the Japan Alliance of University Library Consortia for E-Resources (JUSTICE).
Spanning the years 2024 to 2026, this pioneering agreement offers participation to 563 member institutions on an opt-in basis, marking The Company’s inaugural consortium alliance in Japan.
Under this arrangement, corresponding authors affiliated with participating institutions in Japan can publish an unlimited number of research articles immediately Open Access (OA) in their hybrid journals—Development, Journal of Cell Science, and Journal of Experimental Biology—as well as in our fully Open Access journals—Disease Models & Mechanisms and Biology Open—without incurring any article processing charges (APC). Additionally, researchers from these institutions enjoy boundless access to The Company of Biologists’ hybrid journals, inclusive of their comprehensive archives dating back to 1853.
This partnership heralds a significant milestone in advancing the accessibility and dissemination of biological research, setting a benchmark for collaborative endeavors in the pursuit of open science.
