The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) is extending an invitation to member institutions to submit expressions of interest (EOIs) to host the ARL Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Institute for the years 2025 and 2026. With a submission deadline of April 3, 2024, institutions are encouraged to participate in this pivotal initiative aimed at advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within academic and research communities.
The ARL DEI Institute serves as a cornerstone for fostering positive change and enhancing the capacity of participants to effect transformative action within their respective organizations and broader communities. Through the acquisition and application of knowledge, awareness, and skills related to DEI, organizational development, and leadership, participants are empowered to drive meaningful and lasting impact.
Supported by the generous backing of an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program implementation grant (RE-254925-OLS-23), the DEI Institute offers a unique opportunity for member institutions to engage in collaborative learning and exchange best practices in the realm of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Host responsibilities for the DEI Institute are outlined in the EOI form, with co-hosting expressions of interest also welcome. ARL recognizes the diverse capacities and constraints of member institutions and encourages participation from all interested parties, regardless of hosting capabilities.
To express interest in hosting the DEI Institute for 2025 or 2026, institutions are requested to complete the EOI form by April 3, 2024, 11:59 p.m. Hawaii-Aleutian standard time (UTC−10:00). Submissions should include a brief description of the institution's interest in hosting, as well as any unique experiences or resources that may be offered to enhance the Institute's impact.
