Selected from a pool of over 52,000 diligent reviewers who submitted reports to IOPP journals in 2023, the outstanding reviewers were handpicked by IOPP’s esteemed journal editors. Their selection was based on a meticulous evaluation encompassing criteria such as the quantity, promptness, and, most importantly, the quality of reports submitted.
Since the inception of Peer Review Excellence in 2020, a pioneering initiative aimed at enhancing peer review practices in the physical sciences, IOPP has witnessed a remarkable surge in engagement. Over 13,000 reviewers have attained the prestigious status of ‘IOP Trusted Reviewer’ through this program.
Noteworthy is the marked increase in the representation of female Trusted Reviewers and Trusted Reviewers hailing from regions including Asia, China, Central and South America, The Middle East, and Africa, underscoring the program’s commitment to fostering diversity and inclusivity within the realm of peer review.
The Peer Review Excellence program, renowned as the world's first free peer review training and certification program dedicated to the physical sciences, has garnered significant traction among researchers worldwide. With over 6,000 researchers worldwide having already enrolled, the program continues to offer invaluable learning resources, empowering aspiring reviewers to undertake their roles with confidence and proficiency.
The program's online course, designed to accommodate the diverse schedules of researchers, remains accessible round the clock, allowing participants the flexibility to complete it at their convenience. The resounding success of the Peer Review Excellence program underscores IOPP's unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and integrity in peer review practices across the physical sciences.
