J Med XR announces leadership expansion and new initiatives -

J Med XR, the pioneering journal dedicated to the field of Medical Extended Reality (MXR), has announced a significant expansion in its leadership team alongside several new initiatives. This development follows the journal's successful launch and rapid growth within the medical community.

Dr. Brennan Spiegel, the inaugural Editor-in-Chief of J Med XR, will now also serve as the AMXRA Guideline Editor. In this expanded role, Dr. Spiegel will oversee the guideline development program in partnership with the American Medical Extended Reality Association (AMXRA). This move reflects the journal's commitment to advancing the field of MXR through comprehensive and authoritative guidelines.

Joining Dr. Spiegel in the leadership team is Dr. Rohan Jotwani, who will transition to the role of Editor-in-Chief. Dr. Jotwani, currently an Associate Editor at J Med XR and a faculty member at Weill Cornell Medicine, brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to his new position.

Since its launch, J Med XR has made significant strides in the field of MXR. Under the guidance of Dr. Mark Zhang and the AMXRA, the journal was established as the first dedicated publication for MXR in Fall 2023, with its inaugural papers released in January 2024. The journal has already seen over 6,000 downloads of its initial publications, underscoring the community's strong interest and engagement.

A notable achievement for J Med XR is its partnership with the International Virtual Reality Healthcare Association (IVRHA) and the publication of the first AMXRA official guideline. This guideline, which defines the field of MXR, has been downloaded thousands of times and has received significant attention within the medical and academic communities.

The leadership expansion and new initiatives at J Med XR are aimed at furthering the journal's impact and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. The expanded guideline development program, overseen by Dr. Spiegel, will ensure that J Med XR continues to provide valuable resources and standards for the growing field of MXR.

Dr. Jotwani's appointment as Editor-in-Chief marks a new chapter for J Med XR. His leadership is expected to build on the strong foundation laid by Dr. Spiegel and the AMXRA, driving the journal towards new heights of academic and clinical relevance.

J Med XR remains committed to its mission of advancing medical extended reality through rigorous scholarship, innovative research, and the development of authoritative guidelines. The journal looks forward to continued growth and the opportunity to contribute significantly to the field of MXR.
