IOS Press, now part of Sage, has announced the appointment of Dr. Les Turski as the new Editor-in-Chief of the journal Restorative Neurology and Neuroscience (RNN). Dr. Turski succeeds Dr. Bernhard Sabel, who is retiring after 26 years of exemplary leadership.
Dr. Les Turski brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. He is currently the Director of Clinical Translational Sciences, Clinical and Health Care Research at the Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen (DZNE) in Bonn, Germany. Dr. Turski is board certified in clinical pharmacology, pharmacology, and toxicology.
Dr. Turski's significant contributions to the understanding and treatment of neurological and psychiatric diseases are well-recognized. His pioneering work, alongside his international research teams, led to the invention of the first-in-class AMPA antagonist perampanel, which was licensed in 2012 for epilepsy treatment in humans.
With a prolific scientific output, Dr. Turski has authored 189 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 42 book chapters, accumulating over 14,000 citations and achieving an impressive h-index of 54. His extensive research and clinical experience make him an ideal candidate to lead RNN into its next phase of development.
Dr. Turski will be supported by a strong editorial team. Deputy Editor Dr. Andrea Antal from the University of Göttingen, will continue in her role. Additionally, newly appointed Deputy Editors Dr. Doychin Angelov from the University of Cologne, and Dr. Chandramouli Krishnan from the University of Michigan, will bring their expertise to the journal.
Outgoing Editor-in-Chief Dr. Bernhard Sabel has been at the helm of RNN since its inception, guiding the journal to become a respected publication in the field of neurology and neuroscience. His 26 years of dedicated service have been marked by numerous achievements and significant contributions to the scientific community.
