Open access publisher MDPI has announced the consolidation of its operations by moving its headquarters to a new, state-of-the-art facility in Basel, Switzerland. This move unites MDPI’s two previously separated offices into one central location, enhancing collaboration and operational efficiency.
The new headquarters, located at Grosspeteranlage 5, CH-4052 Basel, officially opened on July 1, 2024. The decision to move stems from MDPI’s commitment to providing a more collaborative and efficient working environment. By bringing together its offices, MDPI aims to improve communication, streamline operations, and support innovation and strategic growth, ultimately benefiting authors, partners, and employees.
The new headquarters features modern amenities and improved meeting and event spaces designed to support MDPI’s growing needs and aspirations. To mark the occasion, MDPI celebrated the opening of its new headquarters on June 30, 2024, with a special event attended by Basel employees. The highlight of the event was a speech from MDPI founder and president, Dr. Shu-Kun Lin, who emphasized the significance of this new chapter in the company’s journey. Dr. Lin reiterated his vision to position MDPI as a leader in open access publishing and reaffirmed the company's commitment to making scholarly research accessible to everyone.
