The Publishers Association has announced the appointment of Nicky Old as their new Director of Communications, effective late September. Nicky Old will succeed Ruth Howells, who has held the position for over six years and will be leaving at the end of July to relocate to Yorkshire.
Nicky Old brings a wealth of experience to the role, currently serving as the Director of Communications at the Local Government Association. Her extensive background includes positions at Universities UK, the Department for Education, the University of Oxford, as well as roles in journalism and bookselling. This diverse professional history underscores her capacity to lead communications efforts for the Publishers Association.
Ruth Howells has been a pivotal figure at the Publishers Association, contributing significantly to its communications strategies and initiatives. During her tenure, she played an integral role in advancing the Association's mission and visibility.
