The American Association of Textile Chemists & Colorists (AATCC) has announced that its esteemed publication, the AATCC Journal of Research (AJOR), will become an open access journal as of January 1, 2025. This transition will make cutting-edge research in textile chemistry, coloration, testing, and advanced materials freely accessible to professionals and researchers worldwide.
Previously, access to AJOR was primarily available through AATCC membership or a paid subscription. However, with the upcoming shift to open access, all articles—past and present—will be freely available, eliminating barriers to access and enabling a broader global audience to stay informed on the latest developments in textile research.
The decision to transition AJOR to open access aligns with AATCC’s mission to advance knowledge and education within the textile industry. By providing unrestricted access to high-quality, peer-reviewed content, AATCC aims to enhance the dissemination of vital research and support the professional growth of textile industry stakeholders.
The leadership team behind AJOR, including Editor-in-Chief Dr. Gang Sun (University of California, Davis), Deputy Editor Dr. Chi Wai Kan (Hong Kong Polytechnic University), and Publications Chair Dr. Jiping Wang (Shanghai University of Engineering Science), played a crucial role in guiding the journal toward this significant milestone.
In celebration of this transition, authors submitting to AJOR will benefit from a 50% discount on the article processing charge (APC) throughout 2025. The APC will take effect starting September 1, 2024.
From January 1, 2025, all AJOR content will be accessible to anyone, enabling researchers and professionals to engage with the latest advancements in the textile industry without any restrictions.
