ASCB names John Aitchison as the new Editor-In-Chief of Molecular Biology of the Cell -

The American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) has announced the appointment of Dr. John D. Aitchison as the new Editor-In-Chief of its flagship journal, Molecular Biology of the Cell (MBoC), effective January 1, 2025.

Dr. Aitchison, an esteemed researcher with extensive experience in cell biology and infectious diseases, brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to MBoC. He currently holds joint appointments as Co-Director of the Center for Global Infectious Disease at Seattle Children’s Research Institute and as a Professor in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington. His distinguished career also includes founding faculty membership at the Institute for Systems Biology, where he served as Senior Vice President and Executive Director of Integrative Biology, as well as his role as President of the Seattle Biomedical Research Institute Center for Infectious Disease Research before transitioning to Seattle Children’s.

With over 30 years of service to the cell biology community, MBoC has been a cornerstone for researchers, offering constructive feedback and a prestigious platform to showcase their work to a global audience. Under Dr. Aitchison's leadership, the journal will continue to welcome submissions of Research Articles, Brief Reports, Reviews, and Methods and Resources papers that present conceptual advances of broad interest and significance in all areas of cell biology.
