APS and Sage launch new open access journal: Advances in Psychological Science Open -

The Association for Psychological Science (APS) and Sage have announced the launch of a new open-access journal, Advances in Psychological Science Open, dedicated to publishing high-quality research across the entire spectrum of psychological science. This innovative journal will accept a wide range of article formats, including empirical studies, theoretical pieces, technical reports, and review articles, offering a platform for both long-form submissions and concise reports. The journal encourages submissions that are integrative and interdisciplinary, reflecting the evolving nature of psychological research.

With the launch of Advances in Psychological Science Open, APS and Sage aim to expand publishing opportunities for psychological scientists, particularly those looking to share their work in an open access format. As a fully open access journal, all published articles will be freely available to the global scientific community, promoting the dissemination of knowledge and the advancement of the field.

To lead this new journal, APS has initiated a search for its inaugural editor. The selected editor will play a crucial role in shaping the journal’s direction and ensuring the publication of impactful and rigorous research. APS plans to have the inaugural editor in place by January 2025, with the first manuscripts expected to be accepted by mid-2025.

APS is welcoming nominations for the Founding Editor position, including self-nominations. In an effort to promote diversity and inclusion within the field, nominations of members from underrepresented groups in psychology are particularly encouraged. Detailed information on how to submit a nomination can be found in the open call issued by APS.

Advances in Psychological Science Open will be the seventh journal published by APS in partnership with Sage, further enriching the extensive portfolio of APS publications. This new journal is designed to complement the existing APS journals by offering a dedicated venue for open access research, ensuring that psychological scientists have a range of publishing options that cater to different needs and preferences.

APS members will benefit from a significant discount on the open access fees associated with the new journal, adding to the array of benefits that APS membership provides. This initiative underscores APS’s commitment to supporting its members and advancing the field of psychological science through accessible, high-quality research dissemination.
