The American Library Association (ALA) has officially opened the call for proposals for the 2025 Annual Conference & Exhibition, set to take place from June 26 to July 1, 2025, in Philadelphia. The conference will address critical issues affecting libraries and their communities, offering a platform for diverse professional development, innovative programs, strategic initiatives, and the latest research in the field.
ALA invites education program and poster proposals from library professionals, educators, researchers, and others interested in sharing their expertise and innovative ideas. The proposal submission sites are now live and will remain open until September 23, 2024.
Submission Categories and Guidelines
Education Program Proposals:
• Proposals are sought for 60-minute sessions, which should include 10-15 minutes for audience Q&A.
• Submissions will be reviewed by one of nine juries, representing ALA’s eight Divisions or the ALA jury, which includes members from Round Tables, Offices, and Affiliates.
• To assist applicants, ALA has provided an Education Program Proposal Submission Guide and a Rubric outlining evaluation criteria and scoring. A step-by-step submission video is also available to guide applicants through the process.
Poster Proposals:
• Poster sessions will run for 90 minutes and are divided into six categories, with presenters displaying their work in a visual format.
• Detailed instructions can be found in the Poster Proposal Submission Guide, along with a Rubric to aid in understanding the evaluation process. A submission video walkthrough is also provided.
Key Dates
• Submission Sites Open: August 19, 2024
• Submission Sites Close: September 23, 2024, at 11:59 PM Eastern
• Final Decisions and Notifications: December 2024
