The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has announced the veterinary profession's first-ever Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Wellbeing (DEIW) Summit, scheduled to take place from November 7-9, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia. This landmark event invites veterinary professionals from across the nation to engage in crucial discussions and activities designed to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment within the veterinary field.
Presented in partnership with the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC), the summit builds upon the successes of the Journey for Teams initiative and other DEI and wellbeing programs spearheaded by the AVMA. The event promises to be a dynamic platform for learning, collaboration, and growth.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a distinguished lineup of keynote speakers, including:
• Bertice Berry, PhD, a renowned author and sociologist known for her insightful and engaging presentations on diversity and social change.
• Chef Brave Heart, an entrepreneur and private chef who will share his unique perspective on cultural identity and wellbeing.
• Adam "Smiley" Poswolsky, an author and workplace expert with a focus on fostering belonging and purpose in professional environments.
The summit will also feature small breakout sessions, networking opportunities, receptions, and other interactive activities, providing a comprehensive experience for all participants.
