The National Library of Medicine (NLM) has announced the launch of the NLM Colloquia on Biomedical Data Science and Computational Biology Research, a new lecture series spotlighting cutting-edge advancements in these rapidly growing fields. Hosted by NLM’s Division of Intramural Research (DIR), the series will bring together experts from the bioinformatics community to share their latest research and its implications for biomedical discovery.
The inaugural lecture will take place on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., featuring Dr. Xavier Berthet, Director of Biomedical Research, Education, and Innovation at Institut Pasteur Dakar. Dr. Berthet's talk, titled “From Galois Groups to Genomic Algebra: Unraveling the Language of Genomes,” will explore how mathematical frameworks can be applied to understanding genomic structures. Attendees can join the event in person at the Natcher Conference Center (Building 45, Room E1/E2) or watch online via NIH Videocast.
This lecture series will continue to host guest speakers from the global bioinformatics community, showcasing groundbreaking research and innovative methods that are advancing the field of biomedical data science.
