GeoScienceWorld (GSW), a leading online platform for peer-reviewed geoscience content, has announced the appointment of Matt Hudson as its new Director of Publishing and Publishing Services. With more than two decades of experience in nonprofit scientific publishing, Hudson brings a wealth of expertise to this strategic leadership role.
In his new position, Hudson will be responsible for overseeing GSW’s Publishing and Publisher Services division. He will develop and implement strategies aimed at advancing the organization’s service to its society partners while ensuring the highest standards of publishing integrity. Hudson will manage key GSW-published journals, including Lithosphere and GeoArabia, while also strengthening and expanding partnerships with society publishers.
Hudson joins GSW after a distinguished career in academic publishing. He spent fifteen years with the Geological Society of America, followed by a four-year tenure as the director of publications, communications, and marketing at the Entomological Society of America. His experience in content migrations, digitization projects, and launching new journals makes him an ideal fit for GSW, which is committed to advancing digital geoscience resources.
With his extensive background in both content management and digital publishing innovation, Hudson is poised to contribute significantly to GSW’s continued leadership in geoscience publishing, ensuring that the platform remains an essential resource for scholars, researchers, and industry professionals worldwide.
