The Company of Biologists has announced the renewal of its Read & Publish Open Access agreement with Jisc, the UK agency dedicated to supporting higher education, research, and innovation. The renewed agreement will run from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026, allowing corresponding authors from participating institutions to continue publishing an unlimited number of research articles as Open Access (OA) without incurring article processing charges (APCs).
This agreement covers three hybrid journals — Development, Journal of Cell Science, and Journal of Experimental Biology — as well as two fully Open Access journals, Disease Models & Mechanisms and Biology Open. Researchers at participating institutions will also enjoy unlimited access to the Company's hybrid journals, including their extensive archives, which date back to 1853.
By eliminating APCs and ensuring seamless access to published research, the agreement supports the broader goals of Open Access and fosters a more equitable and collaborative research environment.
