ResearchGate and Rockefeller University Press expand partnership to boost open access publishing -

ResearchGate, the professional network for researchers, and Rockefeller University Press (RUP) have announced the expansion of their Journal Home partnership with the implementation of the Open Access Agreement Upgrade (OAAU) across RUP’s journal portfolio. This move follows the success of a recent Journal Home pilot and aims to streamline communication about open access opportunities for researchers affiliated with institutions covered by RUP’s read-and-publish agreements.

The expanded collaboration applies to RUP’s flagship journals — the Journal of Cell Biology, Journal of Experimental Medicine, and Journal of General Physiology — and offers several key benefits:

• Targeted Outreach: Using ResearchGate’s understanding of researcher communities, RUP can precisely identify and inform researchers about their eligibility for open access funding based on their publication history and research areas.

• Personalized Messaging: Researchers receive individualized notifications about open access publishing opportunities tailored to their specific needs and affiliations.

• Persistent Visibility: Read-and-publish messaging remains visible as researchers engage with content on ResearchGate, including reading articles, browsing journal profiles, or updating their own profiles.

• Enhanced Analytics: RUP gains comprehensive insights into the effectiveness of their messaging at every stage of the publishing process, from article readership to submission and authorship.

The Open Access Agreement Upgrade aims to boost awareness and adoption of open access publishing. Within just three months of activation, RUP has successfully reached researchers at over 80% of eligible institutions. This initiative ensures that more researchers are aware of funding support for open access and can take advantage of these opportunities to make their work widely accessible.

By leveraging ResearchGate’s platform, RUP hopes to advance open science in life sciences and biomedicine by connecting researchers with clear, timely, and relevant open access options.

This expanded partnership highlights the growing importance of collaboration between publishers and researcher networks to break down barriers to open access and support the dissemination of cutting-edge research.
