The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) has announced its sponsorship of the 2nd Annual Student Journal Symposium for Literary and Research Publications, scheduled for Friday, May 2, 2025. This hybrid event will take place at George Washington University’s Foggy Bottom campus in Washington, D.C., with virtual participation options available.
The symposium invites students, faculty, and professionals involved in student-run publications to connect, collaborate, and learn. The event will feature interactive workshops, roundtable discussions, panel presentations, and plenary sessions led by publishing experts. Participants will gain insights into best practices for editorial leadership, community engagement, and sustainable operations.
The Call for Panelists and Presentations is currently open, and submissions will be accepted until February 15, 2025. Interested individuals are encouraged to participate in moderated panel discussions or propose specific presentation topics. This inclusive approach ensures a platform for diverse voices and ideas to be shared.
The symposium will address pressing topics relevant to student publications, including: Sustainable leadership models, diversity, equity, and inclusion in publishing, ethical practices in editorial processes, securing grants and forming partnerships, and navigating artificial intelligence in content submissions.
Designed to foster dialogue among undergraduate and graduate student journals, the symposium offers attendees a chance to connect with peers from the Washington, D.C. metro area, across the United States, and internationally. The goal is to strengthen the student publishing community by sharing knowledge and building networks.
