ResearchGate, the professional network connecting researchers, and Sage, a leading academic publisher, have announced the renewal and expansion of their Journal Home partnership. The updated agreement now includes 90 journals, bolstering visibility, accessibility, and engagement for researchers worldwide.
The partnership will make a diverse selection of Sage’s open access and hybrid journals available on ResearchGate’s platform, which boasts over 25 million active members globally. The agreement covers both previously published articles and new content as it becomes available, ensuring seamless access for researchers.
Journals included in the agreement will benefit from:
• Increased Visibility – Dedicated journal profiles featuring curated content and key details, tailored to meet researchers' needs.
• Content Syndication – Automatic distribution of journal articles to ResearchGate’s global audience, making subscription articles available to entitled readers.
• Author Support Tools – Articles are automatically shared to author profiles, enhancing reach and providing insights into reader engagement.
• Community Insights – Improved understanding of journal impact and audience connections.
• Higher Usage and Authorship – Expanded access for international researchers, driving article usage and submissions.
A notable feature of the expanded partnership is the activation of Journal Home’s Open Access Agreement Upgrade (OAAU). This feature enhances publishers’ ability to connect researchers with open access funding opportunities through Sage’s institutional and consortia agreements.
The OAAU offers:
• Funding Awareness – Alerts researchers about their eligibility for open access funding at Sage journals.
• Targeted Communication – Context-specific messaging about funding and publishing options tailored to individual researchers.
• Advanced Analytics – Tools to measure the impact of messaging, from initial readership to final authorship, providing actionable insights to improve outreach strategies.
The renewal marks a significant step in advancing open access publishing and fostering an open research culture. By leveraging ResearchGate’s platform, Sage journals will increase their global reach, helping researchers discover and publish impactful work more effectively.
With 90 journals now part of the expanded partnership, Sage and ResearchGate aim to create a connected and transparent publishing ecosystem that prioritizes accessibility, collaboration, and impact.
