Microbiology Society Signs Publish and Read agreement with Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences -

The Microbiology Society has announced a three-year Publish and Read agreement with the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (Peking Union Medical College), one of China's most prestigious medical schools. Effective from 2025, the agreement is designed to enhance access to microbiological research and support open access (OA) publishing for affiliated researchers.

The agreement, established in collaboration with the Charlesworth Group, provides researchers and institutions with significant benefits:

• Uncapped Open Access Publishing: Corresponding authors from participating institutions can publish OA articles in the Society’s journals without paying Article Processing Charges (APCs).

• Unlimited Content Access: All users at participating institutions gain access to the Society's complete archive of content, dating back to 1947.

The agreement applies to the Society’s full portfolio of journals, including hybrid titles such as: Journal of General Virology, Journal of Medical Microbiology, and the International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology.

It also covers fully OA titles, including: Access Microbiology, Microbiology, and Microbial Genomics.

By removing financial barriers to publishing and ensuring access to decades of research, the agreement reinforces the Microbiology Society’s commitment to advancing microbiological science and supporting global researchers.
