Clarivate unveils 'Top 50 Universities Powering Global Innovation' report -

Clarivate Plc, a global leader in transformative intelligence, has released its highly anticipated report, The Top 50 Universities Powering Global Innovation. The report explores the pivotal role of research in driving industrial innovation and societal progress, using data from Clarivate’s comprehensive academic research and patent citation resources.

Drawing on insights from tools like the Web of Science and Derwent World Patents Index, the study highlights the global flow of knowledge between academia and industry. It identifies the top 50 universities whose academic papers received the most citations in patents granted to companies featured on the Top 100 Global Innovators 2024 list.

Key findings from the report include:

• The top 50 universities span across 11 countries and regions, from the U.S. to South Korea.

• U.S. institutions like Harvard, Stanford, and MIT dominate, with MIT excelling in translating research into groundbreaking innovations.

• Regional citation patterns show Eastern Asia and Europe rely on local academic research, while U.S. research is globally cited.

• The UK serves as a significant bridge between regions with its diverse international influence.
