Call for Entries: Einstein Foundation Award for Promoting Quality in Research -

PLOS has teamed up with the Einstein Foundation Berlin to announce the opening of entries for the prestigious €350,000 Einstein Foundation Award for Promoting Quality in Research. In partnership with the QUEST Center for Responsible Research at the Berlin Institute of Health, the award recognizes individuals, teams, and institutions that significantly advance the quality, transparency, and reproducibility of scientific research.

Open to researchers worldwide, the award celebrates contributions in three categories:

• Individual Award (€150,000): For individuals or small teams making outstanding contributions to research quality.

• Institutional Award (€100,000): For organizations or institutions enhancing research integrity, with no additional funding for governmental bodies.

• Early Career Award (€100,000): For early career researchers with innovative projects aimed at improving research practices.

Submissions are due by April 30, 2025, with awardees announced by the end of 2025. Past winners include microbiologist Elisabeth Bik for exposing scientific fraud, PubPeer for its post-publication review platform, and PixelQuality for advancing image reproducibility in research.

An international panel of experts will evaluate submissions, ensuring a diverse and interdisciplinary approach. The award is funded by the Wübben Stiftung Wissenschaft and supported by several academic institutions, including the Max Planck Society and Nature Portfolio.
