Dr. Daniel Nomura appointed Editor-in-Chief of AACR journal Molecular Cancer Therapeutics -

The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) has announced the appointment of Daniel K. Nomura, PhD, as the new editor-in-chief of Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, one of the AACR's premier journals. Nomura, a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, will oversee the journal, which publishes cutting-edge translational research focused on the discovery and development of therapeutic agents for cancer treatment.

Molecular Cancer Therapeutics covers a broad spectrum of oncology therapeutics, including small molecule inhibitors, antibody-drug conjugates, cell therapies, gene therapies, and more. The journal aims to reflect the evolving landscape of cancer treatment by exploring experimental approaches across various modalities.

Nomura is widely recognized for his innovative research in chemoproteomics, particularly in addressing the challenge of drugging traditionally "undruggable" proteins. His work aims to identify novel binding sites, or "ligandable hotspots," that can be targeted for disease therapy.

In addition to his role as editor-in-chief, Nomura is a codirector of the Molecular Therapeutics Initiative at UC Berkeley and an investigator at the Innovative Genomics Institute. He has received numerous honors, including the UC Berkeley Bakar Fellows Spark Award (2024) and the National Cancer Institute Outstanding Investigator Award (2022). Nomura is also an active member of the AACR and serves on its Chemistry in Cancer Research Working Group Steering Committee.
