EIFL (Electronic Information for Libraries) has significantly expanded its open access publishing agreements, offering corresponding authors from partner countries the opportunity to publish in 2,927 journals at waived or discounted Article Processing Charges (APCs). This marks a notable increase of 379 journals from 2024.
In 2024, EIFL renewed expiring agreements and added two new partnerships. The Microbiology Society now offers free publishing in all six of its fully open access journals, while DeGruyter expanded its agreement to include open access publishing, in addition to providing access to its content.
Starting 2025, EIFL’s agreements with 15 publishers cover a wide range of disciplines, providing authors from partner countries with greater opportunities to publish their research freely and increase its visibility, usage, and impact. Open access publishing is known to enhance the reach and impact of scholarly work by making it available to a broader audience.
Country-specific journal lists for the participating countries—including Albania, Kenya, Ukraine, and Zambia—are available on the EIFL website, ensuring researchers have access to relevant resources tailored to their location.
This initiative supports EIFL’s mission to foster global access to knowledge and empower researchers in its partner countries to contribute to open science.
