A multisector task force has released a new set of comprehensive policy recommendations to create a safer, healthier, more prosperous world powered by American science and technology.
The Vision for American Science and Technology seeks to lift the U.S. science and technology enterprise out of its current defensive crouch with new strategies to maintain global leadership and competitiveness.
More than 70 leaders in science, industry, academia, philanthropy and the public sector are represented in the task force under the leadership of Parikh and executive director Andrew Black, chief public affairs officer and chief of staff of AAAS.
First, the vision calls to unleash America’s strengths by reducing inefficiencies and removing barriers to progress. Recommendations cited by Parikh include adopting tax policies to incentivize investment and reducing regulatory burdens.
Second, build and empower the American workforce.
Third, commit to investing in fundamental discovery research, applied research and research infrastructure, all in service of creating prosperity, health and national security for all.
