LIBER, OpenAIRE, SPARC Europe, and COAR have released the IMPACT-REPO action plan, a strategic initiative to enhance the role of research repositories in Europe. Despite Europe’s extensive repository network, awareness of their significance in scholarly publishing remains limited.
The plan defines four key functions for repositories: impact, inclusiveness, trust, and innovation. It emphasizes their role in supporting AI applications, new publishing models, and open science efforts, ensuring repositories remain essential tools for research dissemination.
Developed through a community consultation process, the plan is openly available in an editable format, allowing institutions to adapt and localize it for their specific needs.
