The Arab States Research and Education Network (ASREN), Training Centre in Communication (TCC Africa), and PLOS, have launched a regional open science initiative to expand research visibility and collaboration across North Africa. The initiative was introduced through a virtual webinar attended by over 100 participants.
Key objectives of the partnership include:
• Strengthening open science policies and stakeholder engagement.
• Expanding institutional support for open-access publishing.
• Enhancing national open science dialogues to address regional challenges.
The initiative builds on ongoing open-access efforts in Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya, working closely with institutions and policymakers to foster sustainable open science practices.
