Wiley releases AI guidelines to support ethical and effective authorship -

Wiley, a global leader in research and learning, has introduced new guidelines to help authors navigate the ethical, practical, and technical aspects of AI use in manuscript preparation. Announced at the London Book Fair, the guidelines aim to preserve author authenticity while ensuring content reliability, intellectual property protection, and adherence to best practices in research integrity.

Developed in response to growing demand—70% of researchers in Wiley’s recent ExplanAItions study sought publisher guidance—the guidelines were informed by extensive interviews with authors, editorial staff, and AI experts. Accompanying FAQs provide insights on AI tool selection, accuracy evaluation, and disclosure of AI usage in published works.

Wiley will release additional guidance tailored to researchers’ needs in the coming months. The initiative is part of Wiley’s broader commitment to responsible AI adoption in scholarly publishing.
